Dear Members of the EHTF,
We would like to bring to your attention a new publication, Governance and capacities for environment and health in the WHO European Region, which has just been released. The report provides an overview of structural frameworks, evidence, and effective practices that can support countries in strengthening environment and health governance. It highlights the importance of coordinated action across sectors and levels of government, enhanced human and financial capacities, clear and strategic communication, and strong science–policy collaboration, particularly in the context of rising misinformation and the growing risks posed by climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss.
This publication reflects the scientific background that led the discussion and the key messages during the Executive Officers Meeting on Governance and Capacity in Environment and Health, held in Bonn on 2–4 December 2024, where more than 30 country representatives exchanged experiences on implementing the commitments made at the Seventh Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health in Budapest.
We hope the report will serve as a useful reference as the Task Force continues to follow and support the implementation of the Budapest Declaration.
With kind regards,
EHP Secretariat
