The Kyiv State Academy of Decorative and Applied Arts, founded in 1938, holds a pivotal role in nation-building and shaping the identity of Ukrainian art. As a modern national educational and cultural institution, it stands as one of the leading universities in Ukraine, where art education is rooted in the preservation, development, and promotion of the national cultural heritage and its integration into contemporary artistic works.

The mission of the Academy is to ensure high-quality art education, develop the intellectual potential of Ukraine, preserve and advance Ukrainian folk traditions, national identity, and individuality, as well as to popularize and promote them within society.

The study process at the Academy is founded on methodological principles introduced by Mykhailo Boichuk, emphasizing the study and reinterpretation of classical examples of national cultural heritage, alongside the exploration of new artistic patterns. This approach fosters the development of individual artistic perspectives and social consciousness among students.

Currently, 717 students are enrolled in the Academy, including those who have come from territories occupied by Russia, such as Kherson, Kharkiv, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions.

The Academy offers such areas of study as art studies, art criticism, art dealing, design, decorative arts and restoration, ceramic arts, textile arts, and monumental. There are 115 professors working in the Academy.

One hundred years ago soviet totalitarianism silenced Mykrailo Boichuk, the leader of the unique artistic school of monumental art.

Today we bear witness to russian war crimes challenging the whole civilization. The enemy seeks to dismantle Ukraine as a nation and eradicate its cultural heritage. They aim to distort our history and wrongfully claim our cultural achievements. They are aware that no nation can last without culture, as it is the cornerstone of state-building and national security.
