Ms. Heidy PURGA Minister of Culture of the Republic of Estonia
Dear Minister,
I would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to the Republic of Estonia and to you personally for joining the Joint Statement in support of Ukraine and for cosponsoring the Ukrainian Panel discussion held on 6 May 2026 during the preopening of the 61st International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia.
Ukraine highly appreciates Estonia’s principled position regarding the participation of the Russian Federation in the Biennale, as reflected in the joint letter by the European Ministers of Culture and Foreign Affairs addressed in March this year to the President and Board of Directors of La Biennale di Venezia. Such strong and united messages reaffirm that Europe stands firm in defending the principles of international law, human dignity and democratic values.
Taking this opportunity, I would also like to reiterate my deepest appreciation to Estonia for its important contribution to the Ukraine Cultural Heritage Fund and for joining the Culture Resilience Alliance. Your support is of great importance for the preservation, recovery and resilience of Ukrainian culture in the face of Russia’s ongoing attacks, which continue to damage and destroy cultural institutions across the country.
Recalling warmly our meeting during La Biennale di Venezia, I would also like to express our high appreciation for your continued support for Ukraine, our close and productive cooperation and the many cultural initiatives that continue to strengthen the ties between our nations.
Sincerely yours,
Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy of Ukraine – Minister Tetyana BEREZHNA
