His Excellency
Mr. Tiit Riisalo Minister Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications Estonia
Subject: Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-24), 1-4 July 2024, Kampala, Uganda
Sir,
I am pleased to invite you to participate in the 2024 Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR-24) under the theme: Regulation for impact and to take part in the Ministerial segment and share your perspectives on maximizing digital opportunities. GSR-24 will be organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), in collaboration with the Government of Uganda. The event will be held from 1-4 July 2024 at Speke Resort and Convention Center, Munyonyo, Kampala, Uganda and be chaired by Mr George William Nyombi Thembo, Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC).
Built around interactive high-level panels on topical and cutting-edge policy and regulatory issues, GSR-24 provides regulators and policy makers and decision makers from the private sector from around the world with a unique platform for discussions among peers and other digital stakeholders. As part of GSR-24, we will hold the Executive Heads of Regulators’ Roundtable (upon invitation only), the Regional Regulatory Associations Meeting (RA) and the Industry Advisory Group on Development Issues and Private Sector Chief Regulatory Officers’ (IAGDI-CRO) meeting on 1 and 2 July 2024 just before the main sessions of GSR.
The proposed topics for discussions are mainly based on suggestions by the membership following GSR-23. The other sessions will feature discussions on the space economy; connecting everyone, everything, everywhere, all at once; mastering digital transformation; Artificial Intelligence (AI) and robotics for positive impact; safe and inclusive digital financial services; agile regulation for innovation and harnessing digital for climate action. The GSR-24 consultation to identify best practice guidelines on Charting the course of transformative technologies for positive impact was recently launched with contributions to be sent to [email protected] by 15 April 2024. More information is available at: https://www.itu.int/gsr24/.
I hope that you will be able to participate and make a valuable contribution to a successful Global Symposium for Regulators 2024.
Accept, Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.
Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava Director
