2. UNIDROIT 2026 – A.G. (86) 1
ANNOTATIONS
Item No. 1 Opening of the Special Joint session of the Governing Council and General
Assembly on the occasion of the Centenary of UNIDROIT
1. The 86th session of the General Assembly, to be held jointly with the Governing Council on
the occasion of the Centenary, will be held on 10-11 December 2026. To accommodate more
people this meeting will be held at an external venue (more details will follow) and is
tentatively scheduled to open at 10 a.m. with registration open from 9 a.m.
2. The Opening will involve an introductory Ceremony with tokens of commemoration, including
opening speeches by the President of UNIDROIT and the leadership of the Governance of the
Centenary.
Item No. 2 Election of the Chair of the General Assembly 2026-2027
3. Spain chaired the General Assembly for the period 2025-2026. According to the practice of
yearly rotation among the geographic regions into which UNIDROIT’s membership is divided in
accordance with Article 7(7) of the UNIDROIT Regulations, it will be for the Asia-Pacific Group of States
to nominate the Chair for the period 2025-2026.
Item No. 5 Amendments to the Work Programme of the Organisation for the 2026-2028
triennium
4. At its 107th session, the Governing Council recommended that the General Assembly approve
the inclusion of the development of a Model Procedural Law implementing the Cape Town Convention
and the Aircraft Protocol in UNIDROIT’s Work Programme for the 2026–2028 period, to be undertaken
jointly with the Aviation Working Group (AWG) (see C.D. (107) Misc. 2 rev.).
5. The General Assembly is invited to consider the proposal to be approved, which would allow
the Secretariat to convene a joint Working Group.
Item No. 11 Update on UNIDROIT Regulations reviewing process and discussion of
amendments
6. The General Assembly will be invited to consider the results of the extensive review of the
Regulations conducted by the Special Committee and the Governing Council.
Item No. 12 Consideration of the Strategy of the Centenary
7. In light of the Governing Council’s recommendation that the strategy should focus on
identifying broad objectives and priorities (see C.D. (107) Misc. 2 rev.), with particular attention to
resource allocation and the organisation’s mandate, the General Assembly will be invited to consider
proposals on such matters.
Item No. 14 Closing Ceremony
8. The Special Joint Session of the Governing Council and General Assembly on the occasion of
the Centenary of UNIDROIT will conclude with Institutional speeches and Statements from Member
States.

occasion of the closing event of the Centenary, the participation of relevant government officials from
the capitals is highly encouraged.
The annotated draft agenda of the session is enclosed herewith. The documentation for the
session will be circulated following the 101st session of the Finance Committee, which will be held in
October 2026.
