On the occasion of the 4Oth anniversary of the Eureka Network, it is with great pleasure that 1 oifer you the commemorative book celebrating four decades of achievements, reflections, and aspirations of this remarkable initiative. As the Head of Switzerland’s Chairmanship of Eureka for 2025-26, 1 am honoured to accompany this milestone and to reaffirm Switzerland’s deep commitment to fostering international collaboration in research and innovation.
Since ts foundation in 1985, Eureka has embodied the principles oftrust, cooperation, and shared pro gress, bringing together now over 45 member countries from Europe and beyond. In an era marked by shifting political and economic Iandscapes, rapid technological transformations, and pressing giobal challenges, the value of such a network has only grown. Eureka continues to serve as a pivotal piat form, enabling businesses, academia, and governments to collaboratively develop solutions that strengthen competitiveness, create jobs, and address societal needs.
As we reflect on the success that has mobilised more than 40 billion euros in public-private investment and supported over 7,000 cross-border projects, it is also a moment to look ahead of us. The coming years will require close cooperation, as research and innovation serve as key drivers for addressing challenges such as climate change, sustainable development, technological sovereignty and security.
This book stands not only as a testimony to Eureka’s enduring impact but also as an invitation to con tinue supporting this unique network and to leverage its potential to build bridges and unlock markets across borders. As Minister entrusted with the advancement of innovation and international collabora tion, encourage you to embrace this shared opportunity, ensuring that together we strengthen the foundation for the next decade of innovation and discovery.
