The Embassy of Switzerland presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia and has the honor to inform the Ministry about the current process regarding the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships.
As of 2025, the application process for all Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships has become digital. It would be appreciated to have the support from the responsible Latvian institutions in sharing the information about the scholarships, but applications would no longer be submitted and assessed in a printed form – as in the previous year, they would reach the Embassy via the online application form.
The Swiss Government offers a number of Excellence Scholarships to Estonian students in a program based on a pool system. The following types of scholarships are available for applicants from Estonia:
Research : Research fellowships PhD scholarships
Arts Arts scholarships Master level (only initial MA degree).
The Embassy would like to draw the Ministry’s attention to the fact that from the 2027-2028 academic year onwards, no postdoctoral scholarships will be awarded .
The Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS) will select scholarship holders for the 2027 – 2028 academic year by the end of May 2027.
Applicants can check their eligibility and apply for Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships here: https://www.go.eskas.ch/LoqinServlet. The deadline for submission of the applications is 10 November 2026.
