M/V BOTNICA (IMO No 9165877)
To whom it may concern,
The Estonian Transport Administration has reviewed the owner's request to complete the Cargo
Ship Safety Construction intermediate survey for M/V BOTNICA (IMO No. 9165877; GT 6370;
keel laid on 2 September 1997) outside the time frame specified in SOLAS, Chapter I (HSSC),
Regulation 10(a)(iii), as amended in 2006.
Following its review, the Administration has decided that the intermediate survey may be
completed after the third anniversary date of the Cargo Ship Safety Construction Certificate, but
no later than 30 December 2026. This decision is based on the fact that the items relevant to the
certificate have already been surveyed and found to be in satisfactory condition and fit for the
service for which the ship is intended.
The extension is not related to the routine Cargo Ship Safety Construction intermediate survey
requirements, but solely to the additional requirements introduced by IMO Resolution
MSC.527(106).
Further details regarding the scope of the Cargo Ship Safety Construction intermediate survey are
provided in IMO Resolution A.1207(34), “Survey Guidelines under the Harmonized System of
Survey and Certification (HSSC)”, Annex, section 4.3, and Annex I, section 2.3.
The items covered by the Cargo Ship Safety Construction annual survey were last surveyed on 7
May 2026, while the intermediate survey items that are additional to the annual survey
requirements were alternatively completed between the second and third annual surveys, as
follows:
1. Inspection of the outside of the ship's bottom in dry dock (bottom survey) – 30 April 2025;
2. Main Class Hull Intermediate Survey – 7 May 2026;
3. Auxiliary boiler complete survey and survey of other pressure vessels – 7 May 2026;
4. Survey of machinery and equipment, steering gear and associated control systems, and electrical
installations maintained in accordance with the requirements of the classification society – 7 May
2026.
2 (2)
Based on the above, the Administration considers that the ship continues to comply with the
relevant construction survey requirements pending completion of the additional survey items
required by IMO Resolution MSC.527(106), which shall be completed no later than 30 December
2026.
Yours sincerely
