Dear National Counterpart,
Nomination of Participants for the Third Meeting of the Global Chemicals and Health Network Geneva, 12-14 November 2026
I have the honour to refer to ongoing efforts to strengthen health sector engagement in the sound management of chemicals and to protect populations from chemical risks. In this regard, I would like to invite you to nominate a focal point to participate in the Third Meeting of the Global Chemicals and Health Network (GCHN), organized by WHO Headquarters and to be held in person in Geneva, Switzerland, from 12 to 14 November 2026.
Established in 2018, the GCHN supports implementation of the WHO Chemicals Roadmap, the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) and its successor the Global Framework on Chemicals (GFC). The meeting will focus on advancing implementation of WHA resolutions on chemicals, waste and pollution and health (WHA76.17) and on galvanizing global support for lead (WHA78.27), while preparing for the first International Conference (IC-1) of the GFC, to be held in Geneva from 15 to 20 November 2026.
In anticipation of constructive discussions and the health sector representation at the IC-1, we kindly invite you to prioritize the nomination of the designated GCHN focal point or nominating a new focal point with an appropriate seniority level, familiar with national policies and the GFC. To facilitate the nomination process you may wish to refer to the enclosed list of current GCHN members and focal points.
Please submit the name, affiliation, and contact details of the nominated focal point by 30 September 2026 to Dr Virunya Bhat ([email protected]).
We encourage countries that are able to fund their own participation to do so, thereby allowing travel support for low-income countries and, where possible, new GCHN members.
Yours sincerely, Dr Kremlin Wickramasinghe Director Division of Prevention and Health Promotion Encls: Draft provisional programme of the meeting List of GCHN members and focal points
