Invitation to the 45th Session of the Baltic Assembly and the 32nd Baltic Council on 22-23 October 2026 in the Riigikogu of the Republic of Estonia, Tallinn
Your Excellencies,
On behalf of the Baltic Assembly, we are pleased to invite you to the 45th Session of the Baltic Assembly and the 32nd Baltic Council to be held on 22 – 23 October 2026 in Tallinn, Estonia. This year’s Session will be particularly significant as the Baltic Assembly celebrates its 35th Anniversary, marking thirty-five years of parliamentary cooperation, solidarity and joint action among Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia. We would be honoured by your address during the opening of the Session on the topicalities of cooperation in the Baltic region. It is also our pleasure to invite you to continue our tradition of convening a meeting of the Presidium of the Baltic Assembly and the Speakers of the national parliaments of Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia on 23 October before the Session. In the face of Russia’s ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine, closer Baltic coordination and stronger collective defence have become indispensable to safeguarding the security of our region. Effective deterrence and defence depend not only on strong national capabilities, but also on military interoperability, coordinated planning, resilient critical infrastructure, secure borders and close cooperation with NATO Allies and strategic partners. Building on the strong foundations already established among the Baltic States, deeper practical cooperation is essential to ensure that our region is prepared to meet both current and emerging security challenges. Therefore, the 45th Session will focus on security in the Baltic States and how to further strengthen Baltic defence cooperation. The discussions will provide an opportunity to assess existing forms of cooperation, identify areas where closer coordination and joint action are needed, and exchange views on how the Baltic States can further contribute to NATO’s collective defence and the security of the wider region. We would be honoured to exchange perspectives and best practices with our partners and discuss how, through shared commitment and concerted action, we can reinforce the security, resilience and defence of the Baltic States and Europe as a whole. Please find attached the programme, as well as the general information about the 45th Session of the Baltic Assembly and the 32nd Baltic Council. The members of the Baltic Assembly would be honoured if you would accept this invitation and confirm your attendance by 25 September 2026 at the latest by filling in the registration form here: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/2YGx8Bidqy.
Sincerely,
