In 2025, the Latvian Ministry of Defence announced a GRANT program under which entrepreneurs—in cooperation with the Latvian National Armed Forces (LNAF) and the Defence Technology and Innovation Centre (ATIC)—developed "durable underground military bunkers adapted to Latvian conditions" and "robust modular military mobile trench systems for rapid defensive deployment." Five prototypes have been developed under this program: four prototypes of defensive positions and shelters, and one prototype of a trench system. These prototypes have currently been installed at the Sēlija training range, and the National Armed Forces plan to conduct tests on them—specifically assessing their resistance to the direct impact of an 11 kg TNT equivalent—on November 12, 2026, and November 13, 2026.

We are pleased to invite you to this prototype testing event, which will take place on November 12–13, 2026. in training area Selija (56°26'11.3"N 25°19'55.0"E). The main tests are scheduled for November 12, 2026 from 0900 - 1700; however, should it prove impossible to complete them on that day for any reason, they are scheduled to be finished on November 13, 2026.
