The Embassy of the Peoples Republic of China in the Republic of Estonia presents its compliments to the Riigikogu of the Republic of Estonia and has the honor to draw your attention to the following:

On 29 September 2026, members of the Riigikogu including Mr. Marko Mihkelson, Mr. Peeter TalL Mr. Kristo Enn Vaga, Mr. Kalle Laanet. Mr. Jun Jaanson. Ms. Riina Sikkut, Mr. Anti Poolamets and Ms. Evelin Poolamets attended the so-called “National Day Reception of the Republic of Chin&’ in Talliim held by the “Taipei Mission in the Republic of Latvia”.

The Embassy would Like to reiterate that Estonia has made a clear commitment that it recognizes the Government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legal Government of China and Taiwan as an inalienable part of the Chinese territory. The Government of the Republic of Estonia undertakes the obligation not to establish formal, official relations of any forms with Taiwan.

Members of the Riigikogu are public officials of Estonia State organ. The attendance of the above-mentioned Riigikogu members at the “Reception” constitutes form of official relations with Taiwan which violates the commitment and obligation and infringes China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. We urge the above-mentioned members of the Riigikogu to abide by the one-China principle, be prudent in words and actions relating to the Taiwan question, so as to avoid further damage to the bilateral relations.

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Estonia avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Riigikogu of the Republic of Estonia the assurances of its highest consideration.
