ILO headquarters: new security perimeter and access control system
renewal of access badges
The International Labour Office presents its compliments to the Permanent
Missions and Permanent Observer Offices to the International Labour
Organization (ILO) and has the honour to inform them of the forthcoming
implementation of a new security perimeter and access control system at
the ILO headquarters in Geneva. These measures will ensure compliance
with United Nations security policies.
In this context, the following developments will take place at the end of
October:
The ILO grounds will be enclosed by a new security perimeter with access
control turnstiles. The map attached to this communication shows the
entry points of the new security perimeter.
The new Welcome Pavilion will become operational.
Current access badges will need to be re-coded and made compatible with
the new system. As of 26 October, access to the secured ILO compound will
be granted exclusively to holders of re-coded access badges.
In light of this, members of Permanent Missions and Permanent Observer
Offices wishing to obtain an ILO access badge or have their current badge
re-coded are kindly invited to visit the Accreditation Office, located in
the new Welcome Pavilion (4, Route des Morillons), from 8.00 to 11.30
a.m. and from 1.30 to 4.00 p.m.
Delegates arriving by car may park in the visitor parking (P5), located
next to the Welcome Pavillon (view on map).
Current badge holders are strongly encouraged to complete the renewal
process before the new security perimeter becomes operational on 26
October. Those who are unable to do so by then are encouraged to do so
sufficiently in advance of the upcoming 358th Session of the ILO
Governing Body (9-19 November 2026) to avoid crowds and delays when
attempting to access the building.
When visiting the Accreditation Office, delegates are kindly requested to
present a valid official identity document. As part of the renewal
process, a new identification photograph will be taken.
For further information or questions, Permanent Missions and Permanent
Observer Offices are invited to contact the Official Relations and
Correspondence Unit (RELOFF) by email () or by phone (+41 22 799 6245).
The International Labour Office avails itself of this opportunity to
renew to the Permanent Missions and Permanent Observer Offices to the ILO
the assurances of its highest consideration.
PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL.
