/an; I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptionally warm

welcome Bjorn and I received during our visit to Estonia, and for the

generosity and friendship shown to us throughout.

It was a great privilege to experience your beautiful country and to

join the people of Estonia in marking the anniversary of the restoration of

independence. The visit left us with many lasting memories — of Estonia’s

remarkable history and resilience, and of the confidence, creativity, and

ambition with which you are shaping the future.

I was particularly inspired by the strong emphasis placed on

education, culture and young people, and by the many thoughtful

conversations we had about the opportunities and challenges facing our

two societies.

We returned home inspired, and more convinced than ever of the

strength of the friendship between Iceland and Estonia. I look forward to

exploring the many opportunities ahead to deepen our cooperation.
