Dear Sir or Madam,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing to follow up on my earlier message concerning our research project on AI in the shipping sector. We would appreciate any guidance on the appropriate contact within the organisation who might be able to participate in a brief interview.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours sincerely,

Vidas Vilcinskas

Subject: KTU research project: interview request for AI activities in shipping

Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Vidas Vilcinskas and I am reaching out regarding a scientific project on Artificial Intelligence in the shipping sector that Kaunas University of Technology is running in collaboration with partner institutions from Scandinavia and Iceland (please see here for more information). As part of this project, we are currently conducting interviews with experts and stakeholders from industry and governments.

I would be grateful if you could direct me to the appropriate person or team who could join a brief 20-minute call via Teams (or phone if preferred) to discuss adoption of AI technology as well as associated policy, legal, and regulatory issues? Specifically, we would be interested in the three following broader aspects:

-The specific AI applications that Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications is currently using, or planning to use within the coming five years

-In general terms, the AI applications that you consider as the biggest gamechangers in the shipping sector

-perspectives on the EU AI Act and other relevant regulatory instruments

-which supporting policy measures at national, European, or international levels you would consider most critical for facilitating rapid AI uptake

Thank you very much for your time, and we look forward to hearing from you!

Your sincerely,

Vidas Vilcinskas
