Dear Kaidi,
we are currently performing an assessment of alternatives to replace fluorinated greenhouse gases in mobile refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment (mRACHP). This study is performed within a service contract for the EU Commission, DG CLIMA, in the context of the EU F-gas Regulation 2024/573 (see recommendation letter attached).
Within our assessment, we are collecting broad stakeholder input through an online poll and are encouraging companies, associations and research organisations to participate.
The online survey will be open until the end of October and can be found here: Online Survey for Transport Refrigeration and Mobile Air Conditioning – Fill in form
All answers will be treated confidentially, and the results will only be communicated to DG CLIMA in aggregated form to support discussions with stakeholders.
Please spread the word and forward to relevant stakeholders.
Thank you very much in advance and kind regards,
Barbara

Subject: Request for information to support reports and analysis on specific
sectors covered by the EU F-gas Regulation 2024/573, the EU Ozone Regulation
2024/590 and the Montreal Protocol
To whom it may concern,
The Directorate General for Climate Action of the European Commission has contracted
a consortium led by Öko-Recherche GmbH and including RE-xpertise (Karsten Burges)
and Öko-Institut Consult GmbH to support the implementation and review of EU F-gas
and ozone policies through reports and analysis on specific areas or sectors covered by the
F-gas Regulation, the Ozone Regulation and the Montreal Protocol. The project runs from
June 2026 to May 2029.
The specific objectives of this project are to support DG CLIMA
• with technical analysis and information allowing to monitor a number of crucial F-gas
sectors (e.g. electrical switchgear, mobile refrigeration & air conditioning, health,
batteries) and contribute to producing the legally required reports for these sectors;
• with technical analysis and information for the negotiations and international meetings
linked to the Montreal Protocol;
• in outreach activities, related especially to green refrigerant alternatives as well as on
policy options and scenarios, in particular at the international level.
In this context, the project team may contact you during the project period with requests
for information relevant to this work. Your willingness to respond and your support will
enable the work to be completed in a timely and efficient manner and allow for high-quality
input to all deliverables related to the above matters.
Thank you in advance for your contribution to this project.
