Dear colleague,
For 26 years, International Armoured Vehicles has been the key forum for the global armoured community, where
senior commanders and industry discuss how armoured forces win and sustain large-scale land warfare, with vehicles
as one component of the wider warfighting system. More than 1,400 delegates from 55 nations attend to hear senior
military leaders, industry decision-makers, and academic experts deliver three days of briefings, panel discussions, and
business meetings focused on the future of battlefield mobility.
Each year, IAV tackles the full spectrum of armoured capability: force development, force generation, operations,
and sustainment. As conflict continues to reshape the battlespace, IAV 2027 will confront the most urgent challenges
facing our community head-on. Day One will set the strategic picture for land forces, while Days Two and Three
will dive into the critical technologies and battlefield priorities that will define the next fight, including counter-
UAS, logistics and support, firepower, autonomous systems, and directed energy weapons.
Through its world-leading agenda, IAV 2027 will continue to provide important opportunities for collaboration with peers
who are working to define the future of armoured operations. You will benefit from a variety of formats and sessions,
including interactive workshops, academic and historical lectures, strategic keynotes, and breakout tracks. In
addition to the formal conference programme, the immersive exhibition hall, with static displays, provides an insight
into the latest vehicles and technologies, with experts on hand to provide more detail on their capabilities. Dedicated
networking sessions will encourage new connections and renew prior relationships among colleagues, with the
overarching goal of driving progress within the armoured community. Ample time is offered for more relaxed networking
opportunities, as well as for private bilateral and business meetings to increase collaboration between key stakeholders.
Defence iQ reiterates our promise to meet the needs of our military and industry attendees who must maximise their
time while working under increased expectations. IAV 2027 will bring together the right people for a productive week of
information exchange, problem-solving and deepened collaboration.
I look forward to welcoming you to Farnborough International Exhibition Centre in January.
Sincerely,
In a distinguished military career, General Radford commanded at every rank to 4-star, which included over 11 years on operations. His formative years, up to Regimental command, were spent predominantly as a Special Forces officer in a Counter Terrorist role in Northern Ireland, as well as in Iraq, the Balkans, and Sierra Leone. Throughout his career, whether in command or at staff, he has continually led complex organisational and cultural change on behalf of both UK Defence and NATO.
His final appointment, between 2020 and 2023, was as NATO’s Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe (DSACEUR) during a period of unprecedented transition back to preparing for conflict against a state adversary. In this role, he led the design and successful implementation of a new NATO military strategic plan, the re-design of a new NATO Force Model, and the revision of its military Command and Control.
General (retd.) Gary Brito is a distinguished four-star U.S. Army leader whose 38-year career reflects exceptional strategic vision, operational excellence, and enterprise transformation at the highest levels of government.
General Brito is now President of The Brito Group, LLC, providing strategic advisory services and public speaking. He brings deep expertise in governance, coaching, strategy and organizational leadership. Before retiring, he served as the Commanding General of U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command – a command that drove the Army’s institutional engine for training, education, and development. He was the 18th and final commanding general of TRADOC before its historic merger with AFC and establishment of T2COM.

LESSONS FROM HISTORY WITH THE TANK MUSEUM Many specialised armoured vehicles have played important roles in conflicts throughout history. One of the most iconic is the British Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers (AVRE) which has been redeveloped over the years into a modern combat engineer vehicle. Join the team from the Tank Museum as they explore the history of the development of these key vehicles, and their importance on modern battlefields.

DETECTING AND DEFEATING THE THREAT OF UAS UAS have quickly become ubiquitous on modern battlefields, and there is an increasing need to rapidly identify and counter these threats. Key themes of this interactive session will include considerations for vehicle design and cutting-edge radar systems that can efficiently detect potential threats.
Hosted by Echodyne
Moderated by Dr Thomas Withington, Associate Fellow, RUSI
THE FUTURE OF AUTONOMOUS WARFARE: UNCREWED SYSTEMS IN LAND OPERATIONS With many nations now focusing on the use of uncrewed systems as a force multiplier, strategies and doctrine must evolve to include RAS and manned-unmanned teaming on the battlefield. This session will explore the future ambitions of key nations as they seek to integrate these capabilities into armoured fleets.
ADVANCED SIGNATURE MANAGEMENT FOR IMPROVED VEHICLE SURVIVABILITY As battlefields become increasingly transparent, forces must reconsider signature management to integrate new technologies that will better protect vehicles. Discussions will cover the challenges of vehicle camouflage in modern warfare, and where new capabilities can support.

ENHANCING BATTLEFIELD SITUATIONAL AWARENESS FOR FUTURE LAND OPERATIONS Modern battlefields present myriad threats to armoured fleets, and forces must therefore continuously update their situational awareness capabilities to ensure that these threats can be identified and dealt with efficiently. This session will assess how armoured vehicles can sit within a network of situational awareness capabilities to deliver a comprehensive battlefield picture, and how these systems can work together to identify threats.
CONNECTED COMBAT: DIGITISING THE MODERN ARMOURED FORCE Armour’s place within the battlefield network remains key to the success of land operations, and vehicles must now act as a node within a wider capability web in order to prove useful in operations. Connectivity with RAS, dismounted units, and other vehicles will be key to the success of future operations.
