Subject: Adoption of the UNESCO Framework for Culture and Arts Education
Dear Sir/Madam, I have the honour to transmit herewith the UNESCO Framework for Culture and Arts Education, as adopted at the UNESCO World Conference on Culture and Arts Education, held in Abu Dhabi from 13 to 15 February 2024. The Framework is available in the six UN official languages and can be retrieved on the dedicated website of the World Conference. I would like to express my sincere appreciation for your support and contribution to developing the Framework, and for your participation in the Conference. In conformity with 211 EX/ Decision 39, the Framework builds on an inclusive and participatory global consultation. It was enriched by two rounds of written consultations with Member States and Associate Members prior to the intergovernmental World Conference. It also brought together contributions from more than 2,300 stakeholders over two years through global surveys, regional consultations, expert meetings and papers, multistakeholder dialogue, and information meetings. The unanimous adoption of this Framework marked a defining milestone for harnessing synergies between culture and education. It sets out a clear vision that places culture and the arts at the heart of ensuring quality education and equipping all learners throughout life with the skills they need to build more agile, inclusive and resilient societies. The Conference demonstrated global commitments to advancing culture and arts education. It provided the occasion to unite a range of stakeholders to share ideas, best practices, and build alliances to expand new prospects for culture and arts education. It also underlined the importance of culture and arts education to enhance sustainable development.

Yours sincerely,
Anthony Kwaku Ohemeng-Boamah Encl.: UNESCO Framework for Culture and Arts Education
