RE: Appointment of Directors and Alternates to the Board of Directors of the Nordic Investment Bank

Dear Minister,

According to the Statutes of the Nordic Investment Bank (section 14), the Bank shall have a Board of Directors, composed of eight Directors, of whom each Member country shall appoint one Director for a term of up to 4 years at a time. Each Member country shall also appoint one Alternate according to the same principles. Currently, the Director for Estonia is Merle Wilkinson and the Alternate is Märten Ross.

The mandate period for the members of the current Board of Directors ends on 31 May 2024. We would therefore ask kindly that Estonia appoint a Director and an Alternate to the Board of Directors for the period 1 June 2024 to 31 May 2028. As NIB is an international financial institution, it is crucial that appointees have a relevant understanding of international financing.

Considering that the Board of Directors will convene a meeting in its new composition in the first week of June, we would be grateful that the appointments be communicated to us in written form by Friday, 17 May 2024.
