Dear Ms Sõber,
Tenth edition of the WHO report on the global tobacco epidemic The World Health Organization is committed to providing Member States with accurate, relevant, internationally comparable information to guide the development of health policy and to evaluate the impact of those policies. An example of this type of information source is the WHO report on the global tobacco epidemic, which WHO has published regularly since 2008. WHO is currently collecting data for the tenth edition of the report, planned for publication in mid-2025, and we would like to extend an invitation to your Ministry to participate. The WHO European Region will conduct the survey for this report at regional level, in accordance with the current WHO global policy on use of surveys for data collection. As it is crucial that the report reflect country data correctly, WHO asks Member States to provide their most recent information on tobacco-related policies and data on tobacco use. Once data collection and analysis are completed, WHO will share the analysis with Member States for validation and approval before the report is published. The previous survey for this report was supported by Ms Aive Telling. Please advise whether we may contact Ms Telling directly for continued support. If you wish to nominate another focal point, please provide his or her name, email and phone number for contact. Should you be able to accept this invitation, please confirm by replying to Ms Elizaveta Lebedeva, consultant, Tobacco Control (email: [email protected]) by 24 May 2024. Thank you in advance for your valuable cooperation on this report, which is of high priority for the World Health Organization. Sincerely yours, Dr Gauden Galea Strategic Adviser, Special Initiative on NCDs and Innovation, WHO European Office
