Subject: Estonian labelling

Dear Andra

You asked about the Estonian labelling of the cosmetic cream on the tube of the cream if the Estonian sticker is on the carton package labelling, where the tube is packed: „ My name is Andra Ivanovska and I'm representing the regulatory department of JSC "Rigas

farmaceitiska fabrika", Latvija. I have a question regarding the packaging. If primary packaging (tube) is inserted in the carton box and box has all the information in Estonian. Does the information on tube must be in Estonian too (information on tube is in Latvian, e.g., should a sticker be stuck on the tube in Estonian?)“

In Estonia we do not have any additional specific regulation on labelling of cosmetics and all the requirements comes from the regulation.

Article 19 point 1.

Without prejudice to other provisions in this Article, cosmetic products shall be made available on the market only where the container and packaging of cosmetic products bear the following information in indelible, easily legible and visible lettering .........:

Article 19 point 5. „The language of the information mentioned in points (b), (c), (d) and (f) of paragraph 1 and in paragraphs (2), (3) and (4) shall be determined by the law of the Member States in which the product is made available to the end user.“

It means the nominal content (b), the date of minimum durability (if applicable – for products below 30 month) „Parim enne....“ (c), particular precautions to be observed in use (if applicable) (d),

the function of the cosmetic product, unless it is clear from its presentation;

It means, that this minimum information in Estonian is needed also on the tube if all the information, which is needed by art.19 p.1 is originally presented.

Kind regards
