The Hon. Kalle Laanet
Minister
Ministry of Justice
Republic of Estonia
Dear Kalle,
On behalf of the people and Government of the Republic of China (ROC, Taiwan), 1 extend
my heartfelt congratulations to you and through you to the Estonian Government and people
on this auspicious occasion of the Estonian Independence Day - a pivotal moment that reflects
the country’s collective courage and determination, and the enduring spirit that shaped the
destiny of the Estonian people.
The close ties between Taiwan and Estonia are rooted in our proud history and similarjourney
ofpursuing independence and national sovereignty. In Septernber 1921, the ROC, as a founding
member together with the other thirty-five nations voted in favor of Estonia’s accession to the
League of Nations. The relations were further strengthened by the signing of the Treaty of
Amity in London in 1937.
Despite vast geographical distance, Taiwan is fully committed to deepening bilateral relations
with Estonia to advance our shared interests through concerted efforts, including the
establishment ofa Taiwan representative office in Tallinn. 1 believe that historical ties and close
cooperation between our two countries will be further enhanced with freedom and democracy
as core values and underlying pillars for the success and prosperity of both nations.
Once again, please accept the assurances of my highest consideration and best wishes for
continuous success.
Yours sincerely,
Andrew H.C. Lee Justiitsministee
Representative -.
