We would like to kindly remind you of the upcoming deadline on 3 June to propose possible participants for the online course on "Introduction to evidence based public health (EBPH)” to be held on 10 - 11 June.

Note: We have also invited you to propose possible participants for the additional EBPH online course to be held on 16 – 17 September.

Please refer to our previous communication for additional details regarding how many participants can be proposed. Additionally, please find the course outline attached for your information.

Dear Colleagues,

Following the two very successful trainings organised by ECDC on evidence based public health (EBPH) at the beginning of this year, and the high demand for attendance, we are pleased to announce that we are able to offer additional courses in 2024:

• One 4-day in person course ‘Methods and tools for evidence-based public health with a focus on infectious disease epidemiology, prevention, and control’, 4 consecutive days at ECDC premises (free of charge but note that ECDC is not covering travel and accommodation costs of participants)

• 24-27 September 2024 (up to 20 participants)  

Note that we will send out a separate invitation for the in-person workshop.

• Two online instructor-led short courses ‘Introduction to evidence-based public health (EBPH), 2x 3.5 hours on two consecutive days (free of charge)

• 10-11 June 2024 (up to 40 participants)

• 16-17 September 2024 (up to 40 participants)

With the shorter online course format, we aim to give the opportunity to a larger number of colleagues in the Member States to attend. Participants of the online courses will get a basic understanding of key terms and concepts of evidence-based public health and evidence-informed decision-making.

With this message, we would like to invite the National Focal Points to propose possible participants for the two 2024 online courses.

Each country is invited to propose up to three names (see the tables below) and rank the proposed names in the order of priority. Two more names can be proposed which will be placed on a waiting list.

Kindly note that the number of spaces is restricted and therefore we will apply a combination of first come-first served with a ceiling by country, to allow as many countries as possible to have at least one participant in each course. Therefore, depending on the number of requests received, we might be forced to accept less than three participants per country.

NOTE for the following countries: Austria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Spain.

Please do not propose any names following this email, as we will be contacting you shortly with a separate email regarding your proposals. The reason for this is because we are already having a list of possible participants proposed by your country, that were placed on a waiting list from the last course.
