TO: HON. SIGNE RIISALO
MINISTER OF SOCIAL PROTECTION, ESTONIA FR: Ms. Irene Natividad, Summit President, Global Summit of Women
***************************************************** Dear Hon. Minister, I am pleased to invite you to the 2024 Global Summit of Women and its Ministerial Roundtable hosted by Madrid, Spain on May 9-11, 2024. As it has done for the past 33 years, the Summit provides a forum for exchanges on what works in advancing women’s and girls’ economic progress. I would welcome your participation in the discussions to share the progress you are leading for women and girls in Estonia.
The Summit’s Ministerial Roundtable takes place on Thursday, May 9th from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Riu Hotel Plaza Espana in the heart of Madrid, where the focus will be on Public/Private Sector Partnerships advancing economic opportunities for women and girls.
I would welcome your presenting a policy or project wherein government,
business or civil society has collaborated to improve women’s or girls’ economic lives. All the projects presented will put together in a portfolio to share with other Ministers some best practices that they can possibly foster in their respective countries. In the past, those Ministers attending have led various agencies ranging from Trade and Industry to Environment to Health and Education to Labor and Social Affairs. We expect the 2024 Summit to attract a similarly diverse assembly of Ministers from all parts of the world.
The Ministerial opens the 3-day Summit, whose theme – Women: Energizing Economies of the Future – showcases the key role of women in propelling economic recovery amidst an evolving landscape due to ongoing conflicts, climate change challenges and shifting geo-political alliances. The Summit as a whole averages 1,000 participants from 60+ countries along with government officials such as yourself.
I look forward to the possibility of meeting you and to hearing more about your
initiatives. The following form is for your staff to outline briefly a project developed by your Ministry, should you wish to share it with your peers at the Roundtable. In addition, I have attached an overview of the Summit to give you a greater sense of the high-caliber of leaders participating annually.
It would be an honor to have you join us at this global gathering. I hope to have
the opportunity to welcome you to the Summit in Madrid in May.
