“Space the Indispensable Ally for Decision-Makers”

Object: Letter of Invitation to attend the IAF International Meeting for Ministers and Members of

Parliaments in Milan (Sunday 13th October 2024)

Dear Min. Riisalo,

It is with great pleasure that we extend to you an invitation to participate in the International

Astronautical Federation’s International Meeting for Ministers and Members of Parliaments (MMoP)

scheduled to take place on Sunday 13 October 2024, in Milan, Italy, preceding the 75th International

Astronautical Congress (IAC).

The IAF MMoP meeting this year will be organized in cooperation with the Italian Space Agency and

the Italian Space Economy Parliamentary Inter-Group. It will be held in the beautiful Aula Consiliare of

Grattacielo Pirelli where the Lombardy Regional Council holds its regular meetings.

The IAF MMoP Meeting is a unique meeting, inviting Ministers and members of Parliaments from

around the world to present their nations’ space initiatives. Ministers will provide valuable insights on

their countries’ space strategy, while Parliamentarians will engage in discussions on relevant space

solutions in their regions. Here we seize synergies, share experiences, good practices on space

solutions. Our meeting is an exceptional source of ideas for operational space solutions and the

accomplishment of national priorities and cities management.

Our goal is to make Space accessible, understandable for all of us. It’s the place to be!

This meeting also aims to engage policymakers from nations that do not yet have space experience, to

provide them with the opportunity to listen to the experiences shared by their peers, highlighting the

benefits of space-based solutions.

Each topic will be introduced by a space expert, we encourage the attendees to give a short

presentation (10 minutes) of a relevant space solution in his country or region on the following topics:

• The sustainability of space activities needs the international coordination

• Space exploration technologies for solving global challenges

• Climate Change – Space solutions, the key at all levels: national, regional, urban and rural

• Risk and Disaster Management – Space solutions, a response in the disaster management

cycle helping Decision-Makers

Should you be interested, at the end of the meeting, we will organize a Press Conference for all the

Parliamentarians who took part in the event.

Your intervention during the meeting will be recorded and photographed and they will be shared with

you after the event. We hope that this will support in further spreading the importance of space within

your country.

In addition to this, we wish to further enrich your experience by inviting you to a formal dinner on

Sunday evening, to further network in a more relaxed environment, and to attend the IAC 2024

Opening Day as guest of Honour, on Monday 14 October 2024.
