Potential establishment of a European Environment and Health Process (EHP) Partnership on Poison Centres Dear National Focal Points, We would like to inform you that the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), through its WHO Collaborating Centre for the Public Health Management of Chemical Exposures have started the process to establish a European Environment and Health Process (EHP) Partnership on Poison Centres. As initial steps, we have established a small group of countries to consider the scope of the Partnership and potential activities. We have held 3 initial online meetings via teams and plan to hold a face-to-face meeting on 12 – 13 June 2024, in Istanbul, Türkiye. As National Focal Points, we want to make you aware of this proposed Partnership and hope that you will support its establishment during the upcoming meeting of the European Environment and Health Task Force (EHTF) scheduled for 26−27 June 2024, in Utrecht, Netherlands. We believe this Partnership will be of interest to a wide range of countries across WHO European Region. We aim to extend the membership to all interested Member States once the Partnership is formally established. A summary paragraph is included below. Please see embedded links for further information on the European Environment and Health Process (EHP) Partnerships and Poison Centres. The EHP Partnership on Poison Centres
An EHP Partnership is a practical, agile, thematic and action-oriented mechanism to facilitate the implementation of the commitments taken in the Budapest Declaration and its Roadmap for healthier people, a thriving planet and a sustainable future 2023–2030. This new implementation mechanism was established at the Seventh Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health held in Budapest, Hungary in 2023.
The UK Health Security Agency propose to launch a Partnership on Poison Centres to promote the development and strengthening of poison centres and their public health functions in the WHO European Region. The Partnership will serve as a platform to facilitate exchange of knowledge, experiences and available tools, as well as a creating a hub to increase expertise in participating countries and accelerate capacity building and development within the region.
