Madrid, August 29, 2024 Honorable Villu Kõve Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Estonia
Subject: Invitation to participate in the World Law Congress Dominican Republic 2025 4-6 May, 2025
Dear Justice Kõve, I am honored to contact you in my capacity as President of the World Jurists Association (WJA), a non- governmental organization in special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC), which since 1963 has been dedicated to the promotion of the rule of law and the rule of law as the only alternative to the rule of force. Throughout its history, the World Jurists Association (WJA) has served as a free and open forum to cooperate in strengthening and expanding the rule of law and its institutions.
As part of this mission, for more than 60 years, the WJA has been organizing every two years the World Law Congress (WLC), an international congress where jurists, authorities, but also civil society organizations and businesses discuss a wide range of current issues. The WJA will organize its XXIX World Law Congress in the Dominican Republic, from May 4 to 6, 2025.
The World Law Congress brings together world leaders, including heads of state, authorities, supranational and national court judges, policy makers, academics, lawyers, activists and students, to discuss current issues in the format of multiple panel discussions on a variety of topics. At the congress, the World Peace & Liberty Award is presented to an outstanding figure for his or her contribution to the promotion of peace and freedom through law.
It would be an honor to count on your participation as a prestigious speaker at the World Law Congress Dominican Republic 2025, which we are currently preparing. Your presence and participation, as a guest of honor, in the WLC would add great value to the program that is being developed, especially in the section on constitutional law that we are preparing, in which the speakers will be the Presidents of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts of the world. Please find attached the draft program for your information in case it would be of interest. We would be pleased to arrange a meeting with the WLF team developing the WLC 2025 Program to discuss more specifically your possible participation in the event. Trusting in your interest in the World Law Congress Dominican Republic 2025, we remain attentive to your kind response. Best regards,
Javier Cremades President World Law Foundation & World Jurist Association

THE ORGANIZERS
“A world ruled by law, and not by force” has been the World Jurist Association’s mission since its founding in 1963.
As a non-governmental organization with special consultative status with the United Nations ECOSOC (Economic and
Social Council), the WJA was created to become a free and open forum for judges, lawyers, law professors and other
professionals from around the world to cooperate in strengthening and expanding the Rule of Law and its institutions.
Amongst its main activities are the organization of the biannual World Law Congress and the presentation of the World
Peace & Liberty Award.
As a result of the Madrid Declaration of 2019, the World Law Foundation was created as the executive arm to organize
the main activities of the World Jurist Association. The Board of Trustees and the Advisory Board of the WLF are
composed of prominent jurists and professionals, including former presidents and prime ministers, presidents of high
courts, directors of prestigious institutions, lawyers, academics, and businesspeople.
THE WORLD LAW CONGRESS
The World Law Congress is a congress of congresses where different organizations and institutions hold their own
panels, being the Biennial Congress of the WJA the main event. For two days, global leaders, including heads of State,
authorities, justices from supranational and national high courts, policy makers, academics, lawyers, activists, and
students, discuss a wide variety of current topics to which the legal community should propose solutions. The history
of the World Law Congress is as extensive as the Association’s history. It began in 1963 in Athens, and has continued,
almost unstoppable, every two years to this day.
The WORLD LAW CONGRESS DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 2025 will be the 29th edition of this two-day event. On the first
day, the World Law Congress 2025 will feature more than 400 speakers, presenters, and panelists from 70+ countries
across the five continents who will discuss multiple thematic working sessions topics focusing on Peace Through Law,
the original WJA motto.
On the second day, the Closing Ceremony will be held at a landmark building in Santo Domingo. During this ceremony,
the World Peace & Liberty Award 2025 will be bestowed to an international personality. The award has been previously
presented to Sir Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela, René Cassin, Felipe VI King of Spain, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the
Colombian society in hands of its then President Ivan Duque, US civil rights leader Andrew Young and the European
Commission presented to its President, Ursula von der Leyen.
