RE: Invitation to the Workshop ¨Mental Health Importance: Supporting
treatment processes in Probation¨
Dear CEP member, dear colleague,
Please accept our sincere invitation to attend the Workshop ¨Mental Health importance:
supporting treatment processes in Probation¨ which will be held, on 26-27 November
2024 in Barcelona, Catalonia – Spain.
We sincerely invite everyone interested in the topic of mental health in probation starting
from probation practitioners working on all levels to policy advisors, senior managers,
project leaders to partnership organisations to join us for this event in Barcelona.
To support all aspects of rehabilitation and at the same time treatment processes there is
a need for cooperation among various actors and different European Probation Services
dealing with similar situations with mental health problems.
Through this workshop, CEP proposes approaching the problem of mental health in the
context of Probation from a multidisciplinary and multiagency scheme inviting recognized
expert speakers on this topic from United Kingdom, Ireland, Croatia, Netherlands and
Catalonia - Spain.
The workshop will start from a Human Rights perspective sharing the work that is being
carried out by the Council of Europe.
The workshop will then continue with a more specific look by analysing mental health from
the perspective of resilience, inter-agency cooperation and the role of the community. It
will also explore the work with trauma and their short- and long-term consequences as
possible sources of aggression/violence. And last but not least the workshop will also
examine the gender perspective when working towards a more gender-responsive
approaches in criminal justice settings.
The workshop program will have a world café session. This session will provide a context
through which participants will have a unique opportunity to exchange in a very practical
way, visions and perspectives on working with people who have committed crimes and
have mental health problems. Participants will have a unique opportunity to engage with
European experts on this topic and build mutual connections.
The participation fee is 25 EUR. Registration is open up till 11 November 2024.
