My name is Juan Villa, and I am currently working as a consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). I had the pleasure of meeting many of the staff of the Estonian Social Insurance Board during my participation in the 16th ICT Conference of the ISSA in 2022, when I was serving as the Director of Colombia's Colpensiones.

I am reaching out to you in my current role, where I am providing advice to the Government of Barbados with the financial support from the IDB. The Barbados National Insurance Scheme (NIS) is keen to learn more about the organization and operations of Estonia’s national insurance system. The Barbados NIS is currently facing strong challenges in the areas of digitalization and exposure to natural disasters. We believe that Estonia’s innovative approach could provide valuable insights for the ongoing reforms in Barbados.

With this in mind, the Barbados NIS would like to arrange a visit to Tallinn to gain firsthand knowledge of your system and explore potential areas for future cooperation between our organizations.
