Dear Sir/ Madam,
My name is Varatsuda Saradatta, a coordinator from the Social Security Office (SSO) under the Ministry of Labour, Thailand. I am writing to kindly request a half-day study visit to the Social Insurance Board for our Social Security Board, scheduled for November 2024.
Our delegation will include approximately 30 individuals, comprised of the Social Security Board members, executives, and relevant officials from the SSO. The delegation will be led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, who also serves as Chairperson of the Board. We would greatly appreciate your consideration of our proposed visit, which we hope to schedule from 09:30 to 11:30 a.m. on November 20 or 21, 2024.
We are particularly interested in learning more about Estonian social security system such as the administrative structures, coverage, contributions collection and benefits payment under your management scope, particularly your innovative approaches in providing services as well as opportunities and challenges as we believe Estonia is one of the top EU member countries having best practices regarding digital service reform.
The SSO is aware of rapid changes in situations such as ageing society and digital transformation which has an impact on our members who are both formal and informal insured persons. It is thus crucial to improve our services in response to these challenges. We would value the opportunity to learn from your innovative approaches to service improvement and we believe these insights will help us enhance our own services in Thailand.
For more information, the SSO is a governmental department responsible for managing Thailand’s Social Security and Workers’ Compensation Schemes. Our members include mandatory insured persons (all employees in the private sector) and voluntary insured persons, totaling more than 24.7 million members. We also provide both work and non-work related benefits including injury or sickness, death, disability, maternity, child allowance, old-age benefits (pension and lump sum) and unemployment.
The Social Security Board, our administrative body, consists of 28 representatives drawn from government agencies, employers, workers, and senior experts in relevant fields, and is chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour. Our Board oversees key areas such as sustainability of the Social Security Fund, benefit adequacy, and service innovation. Given the evolving challenges we face—such as an ageing population and digital transformation—we are keen to learn from your expertise.
We also believe this visit will foster valuable discussions and exchange of best practices, benefiting both our organizations.
Should you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me. The SSO greatly appreciates your consideration of our request.
Best regards,
Varatsuda Saradatta (Ms.)
