4-week online tutored course on One Health between 12 November – 13 December 2024.
The course contents and structure have been developed by FAO, working with
international experts.
Aims of the course are to develop national capacity for the implementation of the One Health
approach by governments and to encourage interaction between people working in different areas

public health, wildlife, and food safety sectors, and to provide them an introduction to the One
Health concept and its implementation.
Who is the course for?
Professionals working in different government institutions, with different backgrounds (animal
health / public health / wildlife / food safety), involved in risk analysis. Participants are expected to
be able to communicate in English and to dedicate a total of 10 hours study time to the course over
a four-week period. No previous knowledge on One Health related topics is required.
What will you learn?
The course is a tutored online course combining self-study interactive modules with webinars and a
discussion forum. The interactive modules will cover the following areas:
1. One Health: An overview
2. Sources of pathogens
3. Understanding anthropogenic drivers of disease emergence
4. Impact of infectious diseases
5. Principles of risk analysis: A One Health perspective
The webinars and the discussion forum will provide a unique opportunity to discuss with
international experts and among themselves on the topic and to network with people working in
different areas.
Participants who successfully complete the course requirements are provided with a certificate. For
successful completion, participants need to go through all the modules, actively participate in a case
