This letter refers to the invitation for Estonia to nominate participants from the health sector to attend the Virtual learning course on One Health which will be held from 12 November to 13 December 2024 and hosted by the FAO Virtual Learning Centers. The invitation was sent to you by the World Health Organization, Regional Office for Europe on 4 October 2024.

This letter serves to clarify that the invitation referred to an additional virtual learning course specifically for individuals with command of the Russian language. This is complementary to the English version of the course which took place in February-March 2024, and we expect to offer it in English again in 2025.

We regret any inconvenience and misunderstanding the original communication may have caused.

Virtual learning course on One Health 12 November – 13 December 2024

I have the honour to inform you that World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Europe, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) will jointly deliver a virtual learning course on One Health through the FAO Virtual Learning Center (VLC). The course is designed to develop national capacity for the implementation of the One Health approach and to encourage interaction between people working in different areas where the One Health approach applies. The course will bring together professionals from different fields (e.g. animal health, public health, wildlife, food safety), and aims to provide them an introduction to the One Health approach and its implementation. For more details, please find a course outline brochure. Of note, the course is accredited by the Veterinary Continuing Education in Europe (VetCEE). I have the pleasure in inviting you to nominate five participants from the human health sector in your country by filling the attached form. If there is more interest, two additional participants can be included on the waiting list. This invitation is sent to the Training Focal Point in your organisation. Please note, separate invitations have also been sent to the animal health, food safety and wildlife contact points of other authorities in your country to nominate participants from their organisations/sectors. It is important that the nominated participants will be able to apply what they learn during the course in their day-to-day work. For this reason, participants should:

• be available to study online for a total 10 hours over four weeks, • be able to communicate in Russian, and • work for government human health services (central, regional, or local level) • high speed internet connection is required for attending

The course is free of charge and will start with an opening webinar on 12 November 2024 and close on 13 December 2024. The course consists of five interactive modules that will be open for completion for four weeks. In addition, the case study on risk analysis will be proposed.

During the course, international experts from FAO, UNEP, WHO, WOAH, and other agencies will be available through webinars and a discussion forum. Upon successful completion, the trainees will be issued a certificate.
