EU Naval Forces Mediterranean Fleadquarters and NATO

Allied Maritime Command co-organise the thirteenth edition of the Shared Awareness and

Deconfliction in the Mediterranean (SHADE MED) Conference on 5^'’ December 2024. Vice

Admiral Didier Maleterre and I have the great pleasure to invite you to join us as a

distinguished participant.

The purpose of SHADE MED is to bring together representatives of nations and

organisations operating or having interests in the Mediterranean area, to meet and share situational awareness, assessment of trends, lessons learned, best practices and to discuss

further ways of deconflicting and coordinating the efforts of those involved. The event will

be hosted by EUNAVFOR MED OPERATION IRINI OHQ at Centocelle Air Base in Rome.

This year the conference will specifically focus on “Future challenges in the Mediterranean”,

as per the attached agenda.

On the occasion of this event, we have organized a welcome Icebreaker dinner on the 4*'^ of

December, at 19.00 h (further information will follow).
