Dear Minister,

Please accept my sincerest congratulations on your appointment as Minister of Econorny and

Industry of the Republic ofEstonia.

Estonia and Germany are linked by close bilateral relations. As EU Member States, our

ambitious aim is to strengthen the intemal market, further develop it and make it fit for the

futur, enhance the cornpetitiveness of the European economy, and maintain the rule of law and

stability in the European Union. The green transition has priority for the competitiveness of our

companies. And European industrial policy will continue to play a crucial role in the next

legislative period of the European Commission, with a clear focus on the Clean Industrial Deal.

In this context, we should especially bear in mmd SMEs and provide political support to them,

where possible, so that they can also succeed in implementing the green transition.

The core tasks related to the green transition include the digitisation of our companies and

political support. We need to make our enterprises fit for the future, so that they can survive in

the face of global competition. 1 expect my ministry to be represented at the forthcoming Tallinn

Digital Summit in Estonia in November.

As regards business startups, Estonia serves as a role model. Your country offers an optimum

environment for them, especially in the startup phase. First contacts have aiready been

established between our two ministries in the context of the Digital Hub Initiative, and 1 would

be delighted if we could further advance the networking of our startup ecosystems together, as it

is also important for us to strengthen them.

Sehr geehrter Herr Minister,

zu Ihrer Ernennung ais Minister ftir Wirtschaft und Industrie der Republik Estland gratuliere

ich Ihnen herzlich.

Estland und Deutschland verbinden enge bilaterale Beziehungen. Ais europäische Mitglied

staaten setzen wir uns ambitioniert fcir die Stärkung und zukunftsfiihige Weiterentwicklung

des Binnenmarktes, die Steigerung der Wettbewerbsfiihigkeit sowie den Erhait von Rechts

staatlichkeit und Stabilität der Europäischen Union ein. Die grtine Transformation ist fUr

die Wettbewerbsfahigkeit unserer Unternehmen prioritär. Und die europäische Industrie

politik wird mit dem erkiärten Fokus auf den Clean industrial Deal auch in der kommenden

Legislatur der Europäischen Kommission eine zentrale Rolle einnehmen. Wir soliten dabei

insbesondere die KMU im Blick behalten und dort, wo möglich politisch fiankieren, damit

auch ihnen eine erfolgreiche grtine Transformation gelingen kann.

Die Digitalisierung unserer Unternehmen und die politische UnterstUtzung gehört mit zu

den Kernaufgaben der Digitalen Transformation. Wir mUssen unsere Unternehmen fit fUr

die Zukunft machen, damit sie im globalen Wettbewerb wettbewerbsfiihig bleiben. Mein

Ministerium wird voraussichtlich hei dem kommenden Tallinn Digital Summit im November

in Estland vertreten sein.

Estland geht bei den Start-ups beispielhaft voran und bietet diesen optimalen Voraus

setzungen, insbesondere in der Grtindungsphase. Im Rahmen der Digital Hub Initiative

bestehen bereits erste Kontakte zwischen unseren Ministerien und ich wUrde es sehr

begrUBen, die Vernetzung unserer Start-up-Ökosysteme auch in der Zukunft gemeinsam

voranzutreiben, deren Stärkung uns ebenfalis ein wichtiges Anliegen ist.

Ich freue mich auf unsere Zusammenarbeit und wUnsche Ihnen ftir Ihr neues Amt
