Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to inform you that the EUnited in Diversity III Conference on “the Role of

Constitutional Justice in the EU Common Legal Order” will take place in Sofia on 4 and

5 September 2025.

We plan to start with an informal welcoming reception in the evening of Wednesday 3

September 2025.

After the formal opening of the conference on Thursday 4 September 2025, there will be four

panel discussions on Thursday and Friday, focussing on the following topics:

1. The Allocation of Competences between the Member States and the EU.

2. Identity of the EU and EU constitutionalism in times of crisis: Constitutional Courts

and the Court of Justice.

3. Different National Constitutional Law Constellations Relevant for EU law.

4. Application and Interpretation of EU Law: Constitutional Courts and the Court of

Justice.

The closing of the conference will take place on Friday 5 September 2025 late afternoon.

This follow-up conference is intended to serve as a forum to continue the judicial dialogue on

how to balance the unity and diversity dimensions of European Union and national

constitutional law. A delegation of two Judges and one staff member from each Constitutional

Court of the Member States of the European Union is invited, as well as participants from the

Court of Justice of the European Union. Staff members will be invited to take part in a round

table discussion among them on an issue of common interest.

We kindly invite you to save the dates in your diaries. A formal invitation will be sent out at

the latest by the spring of 2025.

Conférence internationale – Sofia, Bulgarie 3-5 septembre 2025

Chers/Chères collègues,

Nous avons le plaisir de vous informer que la conférence EUnited in Diversity III portant sur

« Le rôle de la justice constitutionnelle dans l’ordre juridique commun de l’Union

européenne » se tiendra à Sofia les 4 et 5 septembre 2025.

La conférence débutera par une réception informelle de bienvenue, qui aura lieu dans la soirée

du mercredi 3 septembre 2025.

Après l’ouverture officielle de la conférence le jeudi 4 septembre 2025, quatre tables rondes

auront lieu le même jour ainsi que le vendredi, autour des sujets suivants :

1. La répartition des compétences entre les États membres et l’UE.

2. L’identité de l’UE et le constitutionnalisme de l’UE en période de crise : les Cours

constitutionnelles et la Cour de justice.

3. Les différentes constellations du droit constitutionnel national pertinentes pour le droit

de l’UE.

4. L’application et l’interprétation du droit de l’UE : les Cours constitutionnelles et la

Cour de justice.

La clôture de la conférence aura lieu le vendredi 5 septembre 2025 en fin d’après-midi.

À l’instar des deux éditions antérieures, cette conférence a pour vocation de servir de forum

en vue de poursuivre le dialogue judiciaire qui vise à concilier unité et diversité entre le droit

constitutionnel de l’Union européenne et celui des États membres. Une délégation de deux

juges et d’un membre du personnel de chaque Cour constitutionnelle des États membres de

l’Union européenne est invitée à la conférence, ainsi que des participants de la Cour de justice

de l’Union européenne. Les membres du personnel concernés seront invités à participer à une

table ronde qui sera organisée pour eux autour d’un sujet d’intérêt commun.

Nous vous invitons à réserver dès maintenant ces dates dans vos agendas. Une invitation

officielle sera envoyée au plus tard au printemps 2025.
