Dear all,
This is a reminder to provide any comments you may have on the EFSA-ECDC joint EU Summary Report on AMR in zoonotic and indicator bacteria from humans, animals and food 2022/2023 by end of today. In case you cannot access the files on the ECON site (and you are nominated as NFP for FWD or OCP), please get back to us and we will look into it. It seems some of the automated access rules were not as automatic as we thought… 😊
Kind regards,
Therese

Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to provide you with a preliminary draft of the joint 2022-2023 EFSA-ECDC EU Summary Report on AMR in zoonotic and indicator bacteria from humans, animals and food, for your review.
The report has been prepared under the ‘overview format’ covering the data from 2022 and 2023 in food producing animals and from 2023 for human data. The human sections in the report has been prepared by ECDC and the animal/food sections and comparison between sectors has been prepared by the EFSA external contractor, a consortium composed by two consultant companies SOLADIS and EFFOR-CVO and three public institutions DTU, NVI and SVA. EFSA and ECDC have reviewed this work.
Please note that report includes data from both 2022 and 2023 in food producing animals. This is done so that data from all food producing animal types will be covered in one report due to the rotating schedule of the sampling. The 2022 data are from poultry and 2023 data from pigs and calves. The data have been summarised but country specific results are available in the annexes.
All preliminary draft chapters and corresponding Appendix/Annex files, which together constitute the 2023 EUSR on AMR, are in PDF format and have been uploaded on the ECDC - FWDNet Collaboration Site in this folder: EFSA-ECDC EU Summary Report on AMR 2022-2023. The ECDC - FWDNet Collaboration Site is accessible to the nominated FWD NFPs and OCPs.
The draft report contains information on AMR in isolates of Salmonella and Campylobacter from both human and animal/food sectors, while data on indicator E. coli and MRSA are only from animal and food isolates. A comparison of resistance levels in isolates from humans and animals is available before the discussion in both the Campylobacter and the Salmonella chapter. The country-specific data from humans are presented in Annex A.1 (Salmonella) and B.1 (Campylobacter).
We have also prepared the 2023 FWD AMR data for Salmonella, Campylobacter and Shigella in the Nominated Surveillance Atlas for your review. For access, you need TESSy rights for SALMISO, CAMPISO or SHIG. To find the same numbers are those presented in the EFSA-ECDC AMR report, please select ‘Domestic and unknown’ and ‘Non-wild type or I+R isolates percentage’. Note that % resistance is only displayed if at least 10 isolates have been tested for the specific combination. Please let us know if you find any errors in the data displayed. The data will be published in the Surveillance Atlas once the consultation has finished (unless changes are necessary). Attached you can also find the updated ‘Information about the data’ file which will be uploaded in the Atlas at the point of publication of the AMR data.
Your review of the 2023 EUSR on AMR
We invite you to comment on the draft report and the analyses and conclusions made, and, in particular, to check that the information from your country is correctly presented in the report.
Send your review of the draft 2023 EUSR on AMR to [email protected]. To this end, please provide comments using the Excel file attached. For each comment, please, complete the information in the excel template in the first tab. Every comment needs to be referenced by the chapter, the page number and the line number(s) of the text to which your comments refer to, or the number of the table or figure. In case you do not have comments for a specific chapter, please indicate this on the second tab of the Excel. To facilitate the reviewing process, please make sure to fill in your name, role, and your country.
We would very much appreciate to receive only one set of comments from each Member State/reporting country regarding the public health sector. Therefore, please, consider merging in the Excel file comments and requests from multiple reviewers from the same country. We kindly ask you to fill in all columns in the Excel file. Comments provided by other means (notes in the PDF, or Word file, or via email) will not be considered.
Please, note that ECDC will on their behalf consult their Scientific Network for Zoonoses monitoring data.
Please, provided us with your review as soon as possible and at the latest by Friday 13th of December 2024.
We take the opportunity to thank you for submitting your national AMR data that enabled us to prepare this Summary Report on AMR.
We are looking forward to your comments and suggestions.
Best wishes,
Therese Westrell, ECDC FWD team
