Explanatory Note for the Judicial Seminar 2025
The Judicial Seminar 2025 is entitled “Protecting human rights in a world of Artificial Intelligence, algorithms and big data.” There will be four topics: “Council of Europe/European standards on Artificial Intelligence: setting the scene,” “Freedom of expression in the age of Artificial Intelligence,” “Artificial Intelligence and the right to fair trial” and “Addressing potential discrimination in Artificial Intelligence.”
A background paper has been prepared by the Court’s Registry, setting out a selection of references to relevant Convention case-law. The document will be accessible via the following link:

Le séminaire judiciaire 2025 a pour titre « La protection des droits de l’homme dans le monde de l’intelligence artificielle, des algorithmes et des mégadonnées (big data) » et comporte quatre thèmes : « Les normes européennes/du Conseil de l’Europe en matière d’intelligence artificielle : poser les bases », « La liberté d’expression à l’ère de l’intelligence artificielle », « L’intelligence artificielle et le droit à un procès équitable » et « Traiter les discriminations potentielles nées de l’intelligence artificielle ».
Un document préparatoire a été élaboré par le greffe de la Cour, dans lequel figure une sélection de citations de la jurisprudence pertinente de la Convention. Ce document sera accessible via le lien suivant :

The Opening of the Judicial Year of the European Court of Human Rights will take place on 31 January 2025 in the Human Rights Building in Strasbourg.
Please find attached an invitation card, a registration form, an explanatory note and the programme of the Seminar.
The evening keynote speeches will be delivered by President Bošnjak and Mr Christophe Soulard, First President of the Court of Cassation of France.
For practical constraints, there will not be room for interpreters to accompany the guests. The Seminar will be recorded and broadcasted later on our website as usual.

L'ouverture de l'année judiciaire de la Cour européenne des droits de l’homme aura lieu le 31 janvier 2025 au Palais des droits de l’homme à Strasbourg.
Vous voudrez bien trouver, ci-joint, un carton d’invitation, un formulaire d’inscription, une note explicative ainsi que le programme du séminaire.
Les discours liminaires de la soirée seront prononcés par le Président Bošnjak et Monsieur Christophe Soulard, Premier Président de la Cour de cassation de la France.
En raison de contraintes pratiques, il n'y aura pas de place pour les interprètes qui accompagneront les invités. Comme d’habitude, le Séminaire sera enregistré et diffusé ultérieurement sur notre site internet.
