B. LVA NAF TRADOC NTC 2025 TRAINING SCHEDULE
1. As per Ref. B LVA NAF TRADOC NTC Diving Training Section (DTS) will conduct an Ice Diving Course scheduled from 3FEB2025 until 7FEB2025.
2. The training is divided into two parts:
2.1. Theoretical training at the Diving Training Section’s facilities at the Military base Karosta in Liepaja, Address: Atmodas bulvāris 1, LV-3405, Liepaja, Latvia;
2.2. Practical training is organized at the TRADOC Infantry schools facilities in Aluksne. Address: Lāčplēša iela 1, LV-4301, Alūksne, Latvia.
3. Prior training requirements:
3.1. At least Shipdivers course or equivalent;
3.2. All participant are required to be proficient in diving with SCUBA air apparatus;
3.3. All participants are required to be proficient in diving using diving dry suits;
3.4. Familiarization diving sessions will be arranged at the DTS facilities in Liepaja if requested/required for the applicants who are not familiar with the equipment used by the DTS.
4. The primary aim of this training is to provide the students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills that will allow the participants, when graduated from the course, to conduct point diving type search tasks under ice in a safe and controlled manner.
The secondary aim of the course is to raise the participants’ awareness of the military task planning requirements in cold environment.
5. All necessary diving equipment will be provided by the DTS. Participants are only required to bring their military cold weather personal equipment.
6. Transportation:
6.1. Transportation to and from the DTS facility in Liepaja is generally participants’ responsibility. However, DTS can support the participants with transportation from and to airports if requested.
6.2. Transportation during the course between the training facilities and dive sites will be provided by the DTS.
7. Accommodation:
7.1. Accommodation at Military base Karosta in Liepaja is offered at the military hotel free of charge;
7.2. Accommodation at the Infantry school in Aluksne is offered at the military barracks free of charge.
8. Catering:
8.1. Catering at the Military base Karosta in Liepaja is participants’ responsibility. DTS can support with ordering meals from outside the base if so requested.
8.2. Catering at the Infantry school in Aluksne is organized at the base DFAC which costs 14.00 EUR a day and will cover three meals.
9. Participation fee: Free of charge.
10. The Course offers 10 seats in total.
11. Command and control.
By sending his/her personnel to this training, the commander of the sending unit is delegating TACOM over the sent troops to the Commander of the NTC.
12. To apply for the training please contact NTC DTS POC NLT 6JAN2025 stating the participants Name, Surname, Nationality, Military ID number (or personal number for participants from SWAT units), information whether the participants will require accommodation.
13. Cautionary remark: the training may be cancelled due to insufficient ice conditions. The sending units will be informed accordingly at least 2 weeks prior the planned start of the training.
