THIRD MEETING OF COMPLIANCE COMMITTEE OF THE ROTTERDAM CONVENTION (CC-3) ONLINE, 6 MARCH 2025

The third meeting of the Compliance Committee of the Rotterdam Convention will be conducted entirely online on 6 March 2025 starting from 12:00 noon and ending at 14:00 (Geneva time, UTC +2h).

The provisional agenda for the meeting (UNEP/FAO/RC/CC.3/1) is enclosed. Further information on the arrangements for the meeting will be available on the meeting website: http://www.pic.int/TheConvention/ComplianceCommittee/Meetings/tabid/9012/language/en-US/Default.aspx

Working under its specific submission mandate pursuant to paragraph 13 of Annex VII to the Rotterdam Convention, the meeting will be focused on the consideration by the Committee of the submission regarding Barbados, to assist in resolving compliance difficulties.

It is recalled that pursuant to the terms of reference of the Committee and the rules of procedures of the Conference of the Parties, applicable mutatis mutandis:

• Meetings of the Committee are open to Parties and the public unless the Committee decides otherwise; • When the Committee is dealing with specific submissions, pursuant to paragraphs 12 or 13 of Annex VII

to the Convention, the meetings shall be open to Parties and closed to the public unless the Party whose compliance is in question agrees otherwise. The Parties or observers to whom the meeting is open shall not have a right to participate in the meeting unless the Committee and the Party whose compliance is in question agree otherwise.

It is further recalled that during consideration of this submission at its second meeting, the Party concerned requested that the meeting be closed to Parties as well as to other observers and a similar request may be made at the third meeting.

Parties to the Rotterdam Convention and observers to meetings of the Conference of the Parties to the Rotterdam Convention are hereby notified of the upcoming meeting.

Representatives of Parties to the Convention as well as bodies and agencies that have already been admitted as observers to the meetings of the Conference of the Parties are invited to contact Mr. Dan Dar-Ziv ([email protected]) before 7 February 2025 to register for the meeting.
