European Regional Verification Commission for Measles and Rubella Elimination

Dear Dr Kärt Sõber, Chair, National Verification Committee for Measles and Rubella Elimination – ESTONIA Outcome of the 12th meeting of the European Regional Verification Commission for Measles and Rubella Elimination I have the honour of providing you with an update on the 2022 status of measles and rubella elimination in the WHO European Region following the 12th meeting of the European Regional Verification Commission for Measles and Rubella Elimination (RVC), held in September 2023. The RVC meets annually to review the status reports and associated documents received from the 53 Member States of the WHO European Region. Based on this review, the RVC verifies the elimination status at the country level and collective progress towards regional measles and rubella elimination. Based on the information provided by the National Verification Committee (NVC) for 2022, the RVC concluded that endemic transmission of measles and rubella remained interrupted in Estonia for a period of greater than 36 months – and elimination of both diseases is thereby sustained. The RVC would like to thank the National Verification Committee and public health authorities for their continued efforts and support for measles and rubella elimination.
