Subject: Request for Funding Support for an In-Person Market Surveillance Meeting (EAA)

Dear Dear Ms Baljutis-Kütt,

Thanks very much for the letter reflecting your interest in the European Accessibility Act

(EAA) Directive 2019/882.

Your letter addressed to Director Paserman in DG EMPL has been assigned to me for

reply.

Please note that the unit responsible for the EAA has been moved from DG EMPL to DG

JUST and the work on the EAA including the informal meetings with Member States on

the transposition of the directive will be organised by the unit now under DG JUST.

Concerning your letter, we very much thank you for your reflections and share your views

on the importance of the Working Group to be set under article 28 of the Directive. To that

end, please note that we are asking Member states to provide us with the nominated Market

surveillance authorities and authorities responsible for the compliance of services. Also

the issue of common understanding for the implementation of the EAA including for

Market surveillance authorities is regularly addressed in the informal on line meetings with

Member States experts on the transposition of the EAA.

We also share the views on the difference between on line and physical meetings in terms

of engagement, depth of exchange, or networking opportunities and are considering the

possibility to organise a physical meeting in Brussels.

However, please note that we do not envisage charging a particular Member State for the

organisation of such meetings and that we do not have envisaged the possibility of

providing funding to one Member States to cover the costs of such meeting.

Please note that when considering organising in Brussels a physical meeting, we are

exploring the possibility to support financially one participant from each Member State.

We will keep you informed about the possible organisation of such meeting and we thank

you for your interest on the matter and offer to organise it. In the meantime if you have
