Subject: RE: Hague 2007 maintenance convention; denial, suspension or revocation of various licenses (for example, driving licenses)
Hi,
Ministry of Justice has received your letter for information. These sanctions are written in our Code of Enforcement Procedure: Code of Enforcement Procedure–Riigi Teataja chapter 8, starting from § 177(1). The code is also accessible in english. According to my knowledge the bailiffs have applied these sanctions in several cases, but unfortunately I do not have exact statistics.
If you are interested in the success rate, maybe you could ask information from the bailiffs union: Avaleht - Kohtutäiturite ja Pankrotihaldurite Koda, [email protected].
Hope this is helpful!
Best regards,
Marii-Elisa Pärna

Dear Madam/Sir,
Switzerland will slowly start now the process of ratifying the Hague 2007 maintenance convention. It will certainly take us 5 years or so, due to questions of federalism and financing, and in the meantime I am very interested in learning from the experience of others. I have seen in the country profile that your country has some sort of denial, suspension or revocation of various licenses (for example, driving licenses) as a sanction for non-payment of maintenance.
Would it be possible to send me a link to the text of this sanction, and do you have any materials as to the efficiency of such measure?
Many thanks for your kind assistance and kind regards,
Niklaus Meier
