Kyllike Sillaste-Elling Ambassador Permanent Representation of Estonia to the European Union Rue Guimard 11–13 B-1040 Brussels Belgium Email: [email protected] Subject: Invitation to participate with observer status in the meetings of the
seventh term of the Management Board of the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE, an EU Agency)
Dear Ambassador Sillaste-Elling, In 2024, the Chair of the Agency’s Management Board (MB), supported by the members, and upon the recommendation of the Commission, began inviting government representatives from the nine EU Member States (MS), which are not formally represented on EIGE’s MB during a given term, to participate in Board meetings with observer status. This temporary practice was instituted to preserve an active dialogue between the Agency and EU-27 consistently, as it was indicated as a clear priority by the Agency’s stakeholders in a recent evaluation1 (2022). The MB is actively communicating2 with the Commission on several evaluation findings, seeking lasting actions aimed at strengthening the Board’s work thereby, increasing the added value the Agency delivers to the EU. In view of having the voices of EU-27 around the table during the executive body’s seventh mandate, which begins on 1 June 2025 and runs through 31 May 2028, you are invited to nominate one government representative (at Director level) to participate in EIGE’s MB meetings for the duration of the next term. The nomination shall include the representative’s name, surname, postal address, telephone number, and email address. Nominations may be submitted through 30 April 2025.
