Dear Minister,
It is my pleasure to invite you to the meeting of the General Affairs Council dedicated to Cohesion Policy, which will take place on the 28th of March from 10 to 13 hrs in Brussels.
During the formal seating, we plan to focus the discussion on the importance of the cohesion goal among other EU priorities and on the potential of the Cohesion Policy to address the present challenges, both in the current and new perspective, including the possibilities offered by the ongoing mid-term review. We will concentrate on the proposed delivery method, in particular the plan for each country and the role of national authorities and regions in defining and delivering reforms and investments.
The following lunch discussion will reflect on the necessary intensity of Cohesion Policy support to achieve the ambitious agenda it should deliver, in particular addressing the current challenges related to competitiveness, security and European defence as well as on its territorial dimension in the context of resource allocation. We have also invited Kata Tüttő, President of the European Committee of the Regions, and Oliver Röpke, President of the European Economic and Social Committee, to join us for the lunch discussion.
Discussions during both the official part and the working lunch will be based on issue papers prepared by the Polish Presidency, which will be sent later on.
I am deeply convinced that our discussion will bring a valuable contribution to the reflection process on the future of Cohesion Policy as well as the overall ongoing debate on the EU’s political priorities.
I am looking forward to seeing you in Brussels.
Yours sincerely
Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz
