Letter of Endorsement
Dear Prof. Täht, The Estonian Ministry of Social Affairs is pleased to support the grant application ‘Youth Transitions in Times of Increasing Uncertainty: A Mixed-method Longitudinal Study,’ prepared by a research team in the Institute of International Social Studies, Tallinn University. The Ministry of Social Affairs recognises the significance of studying youth transitions and well- being, particularly in times of growing uncertainty. This project will examine the youth cohort (born in 2009) whose critical life path choices in education and employment coincide with a period of multiple crises, including the war in Ukraine, global economic instability, rising inflation and costs of living, rapid technological change, AI-driven labor market transformations, and increasing geopolitical instability. Using a longitudinal mixed-method research design, the study will explore both the short-term and long-term effects of these crises on young people's transitions to adulthood. The impacts of multiple crises on young people's mental health and well-being are key areas of interest within the Ministry’s domain. We highly value the insights this research will provide and look forward to the knowledge gained from the project. The Ministry is pleased to offer its expertise to consult with researchers to refine the plans for the longitudinal study focusing on youth transitions. We see this as an excellent opportunity to enhance knowledge transfer and establish a strong foundation for collaboration between the Ministry and the Institute of International Social Studies at Tallinn University. Sincerely Yours, (signed digitally) Nele Labi Deputy Secretary General on Innovation Marion Pajumets [email protected]
