The World Health Organization (WHO) presents its compliments to Member States and has the honour to inform them that the tenth Global Partners Meeting for Nursing and Midwifery (formerly called the “Triad Meeting”), organized jointly by WHO, the International Council of Nurses and the International Confederation of Midwives, will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, from 23 to 24 May 2024, in advance of the Seventy-seventh World Health Assembly (27 May–1 June 2024).
The purpose of the Global Partners Meeting for Nursing and Midwifery is to enhance the roles and contributions of nurses and midwives in national efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage through strengthened primary health care-oriented health systems.
The meeting occurs at a crucial moment to take stock of progress and accelerate implementation of the Global Strategic Directions for Nursing and Midwifery 2021–2025 (adopted with Resolution WHA74.15 (2021)) as well as the status of data reporting and development of the State of the World’s Nursing 2025 report. Member States are requested to nominate their Government Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer (GCNMO) or other individual(s) responsible for the nursing and midwifery workforces for participation in the Global Partners Meeting. Participation can be either virtually through an IT platform dedicated to the event and accessible upon registration or in-person in Geneva.
Member States will be responsible for travel and accommodation of their in-person representative. The language of the meeting is English with interpretation provided in Arabic, Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish for both in-person and remote participants.
For virtual and in-person participation Member States are invited to send the name(s) and email(s) of the nominated participant(s) to Dr Carey McCarthy at [email protected] by 29 March 2024. GCNMOs may also communicate their intention to participate through the WHO regional offices. Information on registration as well as on logistics for in-person participants and connection details for virtual participation will be shared in due time.
