Dear Madam, It is with great pleasure that I have been informed of your appointment as the new Minister of Social Affairs of Estonia. On behalf of myself and the staff of the WHO Regional Office for Europe (WHO/Europe), please accept my warmest congratulations. I would like to take this opportunity to commend Estonia for the outstanding contributions your Ministry has been making to WHO’s work. I would also like to express my appreciation to your Ministry for the continued support it has given WHO. Over the last few years, WHO and Estonia have worked closely together across many areas of mutual interest, including noncommunicable diseases and their key risk factors, and mental health and primary health care. A highlight of this partnership was the Tallinn Charter 15th Anniversary Health Systems Conference: Trust and transformation – resilient and sustainable health systems for the future. WHO/Europe aims to further contribute to the national health priorities of Estonia, as outlined in the Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS) 2024–2030. As you know, the WHO Country Office in Estonia plays a key role in the excellent collaboration between WHO and your country. The WHO Liaison Officer in Estonia, Kristina Köhler, will continue to be fully available to provide you support in implementing the CCS to improve the health of all Estonians. I would be delighted to schedule a videoconference at your earliest convenience to discuss our work and the current and future collaboration between Estonia and WHO.
