Augmenting Coast Guard Capabilities Through Enhanced Cooperation and Technology Adoption
Draft Agenda
WELCOME FROM THE CHAIRMAN
WELCOME TO COAST GUARD CAPABILITY 2025 Dear Colleague, It is with great pleasure that we extend a warm welcome to you for the upcoming Coast Guard Capability Conference, scheduled to take place on 24 and 25 June 2025 at the Copthorne Tara Hotel, in London. This year’s conference promises to offer significant insights and prospects, as it brings together dedicated professionals from across the maritime spectrum to deliberate on the critical theme of “Augmenting coast guard capabilities through enhanced cooperation and technology adoption.” Last year’s conference considered an evolving world where challenges to maritime safety, security, and environmental protection were becoming increasingly complex, in which the role of coast guards in delivering maritime security, was becoming ever more critical to ensuring freedom of navigation, maritime trade, food security and the development of sustainable blue economies. This year’s conference is strategically designed to build on the outcomes of Coast Guard Capability 2024 and to address the challenges, opportunities and ways forward identified. Participating subject-matter experts will consider how to achieve effective interagency cooperation, coordination, and communication; identify and develop best practices; and consider how best to leverage affordable and effective technological and human resources to meet challenges and profit from opportunities. The conference will delve into an array of specific issues that are of paramount importance in today’s maritime landscape. These include great power competition, increasing asymmetric treats to merchant shipping, combatting organised crime at sea; and creating the conditions that enable the development of a sustainable blue economy. Central to our discussions will be the core beliefs that:
• Maritime safety and security require a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary and whole of government
approach, both nationally and internationally
• Maritime safety and security underpins economic development and generates wider stability
• Maritime security must be wider than just countering piracy and terrorism
• The importance of the role of coast guards and other agencies implementing coast guard functions
cannot be overstated.
We are excited to welcome distinguished experts, practitioners, and thought leaders from coast guard organisations, government agencies, academia, and industry. Together, we will engage in insightful discussions, share experiences, and forge connections that will drive us toward practical outcomes and impactful strategies. Warm regards, Chris Trelawny IPM, Deputy Secretary General, International Organization of Airport and Seaport Police (INTERPORTPOLICE)

VIP Guest Invitation | Coast Guard Capability Conference 24th – 25th June 2025, The Copthorne Tara Hotel, London
1st April
TO: Estonian Border Guard
VIP GUEST INVITATION
11th ANNUAL COAST GUARD CAPABILITY CONFERENCE
1. Bringing together the most influential stakeholders from the global Coast Guard community,
the Coast Guard Capability Conference 2025 will delve into the evolving role of coast guards,
emerging threats, and the importance of interagency collaboration. Attracting over 150
attendees worldwide, the 2025 agenda will examine critical topics relevant to modern Coast
Guard operations, including new technology, threats to underwater infrastructure, and
enhancing interoperability.
2. As Military & Government Liaison, I am pleased to formally invite you to contribute to these
discussions by attending the conference in person as our honoured guest. Additionally, we
would like to extend this invitation (to attend as our guests on a non-payment basis) to up to
five (5) officers/senior staff accompanying you in your delegation. Ideally, these would be
procurement professionals currently working on Coast Guard equipment programs,
requirements setters and capability development officers focused on next-generation platform
capability, senior leaders from operational commands that may benefit from collaboration and
information exchange with their peers from other nations, and officers leading relevant R&D
and S&T programs.
3. Taking place over two days our conference will provide a unique opportunity for the Coast
Guard community to engage in productive, face-to-face discussions with allied, partner, and
friendly nations. The event is a chance to get together to hear presentations from those
deploying systems in varied operations around the world and to learn about and see some of
the latest platforms and technology.
4. The role of the Coast Guard is expanding beyond civilian efforts to a more quasi-military
function, as well as a key part of boosting a nation’s blue economy. This forum is necessary
for facilitating an environment where this ‘whole of government’ approach can be worked
out. It is particularly important for newer coast guards to attend, as they can learn valuable
lessons from the more experienced and established coast guards worldwide.
5. As my distinguished guest, there is no registration fee associated with your attendance at this
conference for your delegation of up to five (5) officers/senior staff. Travel and
accommodation expenses remain the responsibility of the participating organisation.
6. I will remain your direct point of contact. Please contact me via email at
[email protected] or via telephone at +44 (0) 207 036 1373. For our planning
purposes, it would be much appreciated if your staff could indicate your early intent to
participate by Friday 25h April 2025.
Yours sincerely,
Amrik Ruprai, Military Liaison, Defence IQ
