Dear Darja or colleagues,

I’m glad to inform you that our IWES Lidar buoy 6 is not drifting anymore.

As you can see on AIS tracking, the Buoy was made safe into Salacgriva port, thanks to the reactivity and effort from the Harbour Master.

The EVA-316 (Riigilaevastik) is on her way to recover our buoy and return it to its intended position, with an ETA at Salacgriva around 12:00noon.

I will confirm, all going well, when the buoy has been returned to its position; so you can consider taking the Navigational Warning No.46 down.

Thanks a lot

Best regards,

Loïs

Tere Darja,

Thanks a lot for issuing the warning.

Indeed, the Buoy crossed into Latvian water yesterday and I did contact navarea@lhd.lv who acknowledge and informed Latvian MRCC.

We are still working on a recovery operation, I’ll update you at navinfo@ when we have progress.

Thanks a lot

Good day,

Thanks for the information!

We have issued a navigational warning about a drifting buoy, but according to the marinetraffic data it appears to be already in Latvian waters. Please inform the Latvian National Coordinators at navarea@lhd.lv sar@mrcc.lv.

Please keep us informed of any updates.

Tere,

I’m very sorry to inform you that our Lidar-Buoy has lost position very late last night.

The buoy is equipped with accurate positioning, and we have constant communication with onboard systems.

The buoy is drifting in a South-West at around 1km/h, which is coherent with the surface wind/wave direction.

According to forecast the buoy will most likely cross into Latvian waters.

We are looking for a recovery vessel.

Tere,

This is to notify the effective re-deployment of surface monitoring equipment, namely a Wind-Lidar-Buoy – ODAS Special Mark, on Thursday 27th March 2025.

The static survey includes seabed-mounted sensors and a small waverider buoy, within a 300m Radius from the main ODAS marker buoy.

After the temporary removal of the surface equipment (marking buoy) on the 15.02.2025 the Navigational Warning No 10 was issued.

Tere,

This is to confirm the surface/floating monitoring equipment, only, was temporarily removed from the Metocean Monitoring position (23°58.278',57°57.421'); see below), on the 15th February 2025.

This includes the temporary removal of the Wind-Lidar-Buoy which acts as a marker buoy and carries a short-range AIS.

The seabed mounted ADCP, underwater monitoring equipment remains on site, around 150m South of the defined position.

Considering that we will re-deploy the Wind-Lidar-Buoy in 4 to 8 weeks; would you consider keeping Navigation Warning number 150 (2024) in place or amending it to prevent anchoring/trawling, until the Lidar/Marker-Buoy is re-deployed? Or would you consider place a virtual marker?

Thanks a lot for your understanding and support.

Best regards,

Loïs

Good evening,

Please note that the floating elements of the monitoring deployment at Liivi are planned to be temporarily removed from site, with the EVA-316 (IMO 7917977), this Saturday 15th February, in the early morning. The EVA-316 will mobilise from and return to the Port of Pärnu.

The monitoring equipment on the sea-bed will be kept at the location; within 300m of the measurement coordinates below.

The floating equipment, Lidar-Buoy (ODAS marker buoy) and Sofar Wave-rider, will be re-deployed in a few weeks, once the risk of sea-icing at the location reduces sufficiently.

As the grantor of the marine survey permit No 16-12/24/20 the Ministry of Climate Change have been informed too.

I am at your disposal, should you have any questions.

Best regards,

Loïs
