Dear Ministers,

1 would like to express my sincere gratitude for your continued commitment to the work of the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity (ENRS) and for your consistent support of its activities.

Concerning the recent announcement regarding the accession of the Czech Republic to the Network as a fuli member, 1 would like to inform you that, in consultation with the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, a date has been set for the signing ceremony of the annex to the Declaration regarding the creation of the Network of 2 February 2005.

The meeting will take place in Prague on 19 May at 1400. On behalf of the Czech Republic, the annex wilI be signed by Ms Jana Kotalikov, Head of the Office of Government of the Czech Republic.

As the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity is a joint international project, it is important to me that the representatives of the Member States actively participate inthe ceremony. Therefore, 1 kindly ask you, Honourable Ministers, to authorise your countries’ Ambassadors to the Czech Republic to sign the annex to the Declaration.

A similar procedure was applied in May 2014 in Bucharest when Romania joined the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity, and the annex was signed by Ministers of Culture or Ambassadors of the respective Member States.

In connection with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the European Network

Remembrance and Solidarity, 1 would like to inform you that the ENRS Secretariat, the

lnstitute ot European Network Remembrance and Solidarity (IENRS), will host a jubilee

gala in Warsaw on 25 June. The ENRS lnstitute will send you invitations to this event in additional correspondence.

ANNEX TO THE DECLARATION REGARDING THE CREATJON OFTHE

EUROPEAN NETWORK REMENIBRANCE AND SOLIDARITY

OF 2 FEBRUARY 2005

JOINT DECLARATION OF INTENT ON THE PARTICIPATION OF

CZECH REPUBLIC IN THE EUROPEAN NETWORK

REMEMBRANCE AND SOLIDARITY

The Office of the Government of the Czech Repuhlic declares ihat the Czech Republic,

sharing the principles and objectives set out in the Declaration establishing the European

Network Remembrance and Solidarity of 2 Fehruary 2005 (hereafter referred to as the

Dec’laraiion), joins the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity (ENRS). The

Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media of the Federal Republic of

Germany, the Minister of Interior of Hunary, the Minister of Culture and National

Heritage of the Reptiblic of Poland. the Minister of Culture of Romania and the Minister

of Culture of the Siovak Republic. representing the memher countries of the European

Network Rememhrance and Solidarity. are pleased to acknowledge and accept the

participation of the Czech Repuhlic in the European Network Remembrance and

Soi ida ii ty

The participants who sign this annex have come to the understanding that in accordance

with the Declaration of2 February 2005. each participant wiIl appoint its coordinator for

ENRS. The coordinators of ali the participants constitute the Steering Committee. which

is a decision—making hody of the ENRS. The ENRS Steering Committee \viiI make its

decisions through a eonsensual process. Furthermore. every par1iciant wiII appoint two

representatives to ENRS advisory bodies, i.e. the Advisory Board and the Academic

C’ouncil. Fach participant may delegate an empoyee. at lts own expenses. 10 the ENRS

Sectetariat in Warsaw, which is headed by the director appointed and dismissed hy the

Minister of Culture and National 1 leritage oC the Repubi ic of’ Poiand. afier appro’aI [upon

recLIest] of the ENRS Steering Committee.

The participants emphasise that they vi11 support the development of the European

Network Remembrance and Solidarity and that they strive to equip the Network with a
